Are These The 5 Worst Trends In Modern Cars?

There are various car makers in the world. Each and every one of these car makers always want to stand out amongst the rest in one way or the other, hence the competition.

These car makers introduce new features as the years passes by in a bid to make their car better and to suit the demands and tastes of their customers. Most of the times, the make sense, other times, they just overdo. In a bid to make some features top notch, they end up complicating things. A lot have been added to the modern cars to make them appear or serve better of which make the cars more luxurious and more interesting to use.

One thing is sure; you can’t just have it all in one car. One thing must be traded for the other.

Today, we want to talk about some of the things we consider to be the worst trends in these newer cars produced recently.

We ask again, are these the worst trends in modern cars?

1. Replacing everything on the dashboard with touch screen console:

If you’re observant enough and follow up the newer cars being produced, you must have notices that touchscreen is replacing the conventional buttons and knobs we use to have in cars.

Come to think of it, this seems like operating a mobile phone when you’re driving. All your attention is needed just to adjust the volume of the stereo or AC (forget about gesture control).

The touchscreen is okay when you are not in motion or when you are driving very slowly in a less busy road.

Driving distractions should be reduced, and not the other way round.

2. Fake exhaust pipes:

Automakers can go extra miles for aesthetics. Making fake exhaust pipes is one the creepy things they do to achieve that.

The original exhaust pipes are faced down under the car where you can’t see them, and then they install the fake exhaust pipes you can see.

Mercedes and Audi are very fond of doing this. Other car brands practice it as well.

3. Fake engine noise:

Everything is just becoming faked these days. There are some cars what are very quiet in the inside that the manufacturers have to introduce fake engine noise using the infotainment system.

When they realize it’s not loud enough as they want, they synthesize the various engine noises they want and then load it into the car infotainment. BMW M5 is a victim of this faking.

4. Replacing side mirrors with cameras:

It appears side mirrors add a very distinctive beauty to cars. Taking them off and replacing it with cameras will make it look weird.

5. Electronic door handles:

You can’t grab this handle physically except it pops out. Why not just keep it simple?

Jaguar and Land Rover are on this table.

Mercedes-Benz sold 202,819 vehicles worldwide in September (-8.2%) and was at the high prior-year level in the first nine months of the year with sales of 1,715,087 units
(-0.1%). In the third quarter of 2018, 526,255 vehicles with the three-pointed star were delivered to customers (-8.2%). With more than 200,000 units sold last month, sales in September were for Mercedes-Benz as a car manufacturer in the premium segment on a high level. In addition, Mercedes-Benz certified its entire fleet for Europe according to the WLTP standard with effect as of September 1. Certified vehicles are already on their way to the retailers, but despite the on-going strong demand, it was not possible to fulfil all customers’ wishes already in September. Compared with the best September for unit sales achieved last year, sales were also impacted by delays in certification in some international markets and by model changes. In a highly competitive environment, the brand with the three-pointed star maintained its market leadership as the premium brand with the highest number of new registrations in September in the markets UK, Italy, France, Russia, Switzerland, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, Japan, Australia, the USA and Mexico, among others.

“I am delighted that Mercedes-Benz has maintained the high level of prior-year sales in the first nine months of the year despite the challenges we faced in the third quarter. It is our goal to ensure that our customers can enjoy receiving their new vehicles as soon as possible – and this is exactly what our teams are currently working on intensively,” stated Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales. “With the GLE, we presented the latest model of our most successful SUV ever to the public at the Paris Motor Show. Mercedes-Benz SUVs have been in the fast lane with our customers since the beginning of the year, with over 610,000 units sold worldwide.”

In the NAFTA region, 31,273 vehicles were delivered to customers last month (-9.9%). From January to September, unit sales there totalled 271,944 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars
(-6.0%). In the United States, 26,169 vehicles were handed over to customers in September (-9.8%) and 225,384 in the first nine months of the year (-7.0%). Thanks to ongoing strong growth rates, Mercedes-Benz set new sales records in Mexico in September as well as in the first nine months.

Mercedes-Benz unit sales by model

With the SUVs, a new record was set for January to September: Worldwide, a total of 612,186 SUVs with the star were delivered, equivalent to an increase of 3.4% in unit sales of the GLA, GLC, GLC Coupé, GLE, GLE Coupé, GLS and G-Class. The popularity of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Saloon also continues: A new sales record was set in September and in the first nine month of the year. In China, around 500 units have been delivered each month since the beginning of the year.

In the first nine months of this year, 442,660 cars of the A-Class, B-Class, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and GLA were sold worldwide (-4.6%). Bugatti Divo Undergoes A Makeover, Unrevealed At Paris Auto Show - Photos

The Bugatti Divo is one of the most exciting models on display at the 2018 Paris Auto Show.

Revealed in Europe for the first time, after it debuted at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance back in August, the hypercar builds upon the Chiron, to which it adds a lot of improvements.

Be it the sharp exterior design, interior enhancements or modified chassis, all of them come together to create a mind-blowing price for a production model: nearly $6 million. But with only 40 units to be produced, all of them were spoken for long before its official unveiling.

Some of the technical upgrades include revisions made to the steering and suspension. Also, thanks to weight saving measures, the Bugatti Divo is 35 kg (77 lbs) lighter than the Chiron, which tips the scales at nearly 2 tons (4,400 lbs).

Located behind the seats is the same quad-turbo’d 8.0-liter W16 engine that powers the Chiron. It hasn’t been massaged in any way, but with 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW) and 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) of torque available, just like in its more mainstream sibling, it’s not like it needs more power.

Moreover, since this is a modern Bugatti we’re looking at, its top speed is hard to beat, even if it’s electronically limited, as the number to go for is 380 km/h (236 mph).

Infinity Set To Unveil The Project Black S Car With Formula One Tech

Infinity Project Black S

Infinity Project Black S is here. Every year automakers pour in millions of dollars into building new Formula One cars but Infiniti is bringing that technology to the normal cars we see everyday. Normal cars have absolutely nothing in common with Formula One cars as the latter comes loaded with top technology while normal road cars are just pretty fancy cars with no serious tech behind it.

This has put the automakers at loggerheads with the fans who only watch these cars from the sidelines but have no idea what it feels like to sit behind the wheels of a top engineering job like a Formula One car.

Nissan Luxury brand Infiniti is debuting the Infiniti Project Black Sat the 2018 Paris Motor Show, this car hints at how F1 tech could make it into cars normal people can drive.

Infinity says the car was developed in collaboration with the Renault Sport F1 team. Renault and Infiniti parent Nissan are joined in a corporate alliance which will see Renault’s F1 cars wear some Infiniti branding.

Infiniti and the Renault race team modified the powertrain to incorporate a hybrid system that, as in an F1 car, gets electricity from two sources. A “motor generator unit-kinetic (MGU-K)” harvests energy from braking, similar to the regenerative braking systems in production hybrids and all-electric cars.

A special pair of turbochargers comprise the “motor generator unit-heat (MGU-H)” element, using heat from the exhaust to generate electricity.

That electricity is stored in a 4.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack and can be used in two ways. It can spool up the turbochargers to make the gasoline engine more responsive, or power an electric motor that works with the V6 to turn the rear wheels. The hybrid system adds about 200 kilograms (440 pounds), according to Infiniti.

The hybrid system adds 163 horsepower to the V6’s output, for a total of 563 hp. Infiniti estimates the Project Black S will do zero to 62 mph in under four seconds. The stock Q60 seven-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duties.

Infiniti refers to the Project Black S as a “prototype” rather than a concept car, indicating that it might be more than just a show-off at the Paris Auto Show. An Infiniti press release also said the automaker “believes there is potential for a new model grade” offering greater performance. But it’s unclear if Infiniti would actually put a car like this into production.

Google Partners With Renault-nissan-mitsubishi Alliance In A New Major Deal.

Millions of cars will start having Android powered infotainment systems in the future thanks to a major Android-Auto deal signed between Google and Automotive Alliance of Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi. Android, the world’s largest and most popular Operating System will finally find it’s way into cars thereby enabling millions of car owners to have an in-built Android equipped system right into the dashboard making it easier for users to use Google services like Google maps, voice assistant to answer text and calls and other Google Play Store apps.

This will provide a richer ecosystem of automotive apps based on the Android platform and make the cars more Android friendly without completely kicking off Apple iOS from the party. Users can install any apps directly from Google playstore and customize your home screen the way you like with beautiful themes, wall papers and your favorite apps for a secure, rich digital life while driving. Not only that, this new system will include the carmaker Alliance Intelligent Cloud, thus enabling remote software upgrades and vehicle diagnostics.

Major Car makers all over the world are afraid of allowing Google and Apple into their cars believing that this will give the American tech giants complete access and eventual control of the car systems and steal customers data for their selfish purpose but this Alliance with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi will build trust and open the door for others to come in. According to Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice president of platforms & ecosystems at Google, he says “Google and Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi share a common vision of delivering an intelligent, safe and seamless in-car experience with apps and services that are familiar, upgradable and connected.” Lots of car owners use iPhones as well so the car makers will definitely find a way to make the system compatible with iOS as well. When this feature rolls out, instead of plugging in your phone to use Android or Apple feature in your dashboard, your car will come with it straight from the factory starting from 2021.
